“Labor big a real heavy sleeper
Just another doze at the office for union’s ‘scarf-&-snore’ prez”
By RICH CALDER
““He eats lunch when he arrives at work at 2 p.m. Then, like clockwork, he goes to sleep with a cup of soda on the table and the straw in it,” said Marvin Robbins, a union vice president.
“Then he wakes up, looks at his watch and says, ‘I have to get out before the traffic gets bad.’ He’s usually out by 4 p.m. after being at the office two hours.”
Union officials say he racks up $1,400 in monthly food bills on the union dime.
Much of the 5-foot-7, 400-plus-pound Rosenthal’s food tabs are for catered union events and meals he writes off as “union business,” board members claim.
They say he significantly overorders at eateries like Dallas BBQ, the Stage Door Deli and Pine Restaurant in The Bronx, a hangout for local politicians, and takes the extra food back to his Bronxdale apartment.
“He’s always walking off with a doggie bag or extra boxes of food,” said another executive board member.
Rosenthal, who earns $156,000 annually, yesterday denied being a free spender— and insisted he works “12-to-14-hour days.”
He says the allegations are “part of a smear campaign”…”
“A Toxic Combination – Obamacare meets the IRS”
Jun 3, 2013, Vol. 18, No. 36• By JEFFREY H. ANDERSON
“One thing Republicans and Democrats should therefore be able to agree on is that this is no time to significantly expand the IRS’s power. Yet that is exactly what will happen under Obamacare if no action is taken. A simple proposal: Remove the IRS from any role in implementing or enforcing Obamacare. It would be hard to argue at this juncture that the IRS is up to the job.”
“Shielding What from Whom?”
Jun 3, 2013, Vol. 18, No. 36• By ANDREW FERGUSON
“…after a…jarring event…frenzy to do something, anything, becomes irresistible to the…journalists, legislators, lobbyists, and regulators… Usually the legislative overreaction is…fleeting and inconsequential…new gun control…is a nice example: …the legislation would have done nothing to prevent the atrocity…it gave our…peacocks many weeks of…moral preening and then faded harmlessly away…
…now comes the journalism “shield law”…Obama…insists is a…necessity. …the Free Flow of Information Act has the declared purpose of making it harder for prosecutors to wrangle…names of…sources…from journalists…
…with Washington’s illogic, the shield law would…have done nothing to avert the…event that inspired it. In 2009…he (Sen Schumer) introduced a…bill protecting journalists from overreaching investigations. The bill died a quiet death then, owing to a lack of support from the president. Now the president supports it again. He knows a…bandwagon when he needs one.”
“Citizens, Not Customers”
Jun 3, 2013, Vol. 18, No. 36• By MATTHEW CONTINETTI
“”We provided horrible customer service,”…acting commissioner of the IRS Steven Miller told the House Ways and Means Committee on May 17, referring to evidence…his agency had targeted Tea Party groups for special scrutiny…”
What government does is administer the law. “Customer service” it does not provide. Confusion sets in when flawed analogies are made between government and something it is not. Miller’s comment…raises more questions than it answers. Who exactly are the customers the IRS serves? American taxpayers? Congress? Political appointees? …the unelected…unaccountable civil servants who manage the bureaucracy?
…what, specifically, was the disservice..? …the slow-walking of Tea Party applications for tax exemption….the fact…the agency did not subject progressive groups to similarly intrusive and intensive examination…the dodgy way the IRS handled the disclosure of the…audit of its activities.”
“Do Not Disturb”
Jun 3, 2013, Vol. 18, No. 36• By WILLIAM KRISTOL
“But in our republic we don’t have to answer the phone and hop to it when liberal elites call. They may occupy the fanciest suites, but we’re not relegated to serving as their concierge desk. And the president isn’t a wealthy patron whose wishes have to be heeded. He’s an elected official who can be checked by other elected officials in Congress. Here the people rule. The buck stops with the American people.
The country will pay a price for having, for a few more years, a liberal president who doesn’t choose to be disturbed by what should disturb him. But the real price would be if he (and his minions) convinced us not to be disturbed by the mounting threats to our well-being abroad and to liberty at home. He won’t succeed.
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear . . .

“”Sheep” Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air You better watch out There may be dogs about I’ve looked over Jordan and I have seen Things are not what they seem. What do you get for pretending the danger’s not real Meek and obedient you follow the leader Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel What a surprise! A look of terminal shock in your eyes Now things are really what they seem No, this is no bad dream. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want He makes me down to lie Through pastures green he leadeth me the silent waters by With bright knives he releaseth my soul He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places He converteth me to lamb cutlets For lo,m he hath great power and great hunger When cometh the day we lowly ones Through quiet reflection and great dedication Master the art of karate Lo, we shall rise up And then we’ll make the bugger’s eyes water.Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream Wave upon wave of demented avengers March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream.Have you heard the news? The dogs are dead! You better stay home And do as you’re told Get out of the road if you want to grow old.”
“Iran claims to field ‘massive’ number of missile launchers”
“”The new weapon components delivered to Iranian military units would allow them to “crush the enemy” with the mass simultaneous fire of long-range surface-to-surface missiles, Defence Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi was quoted as saying.
TV showed footage of him inspecting two dozen launch trucks without missiles at an outdoor site. The report did not specify the type of missile that would be fired, nor more details on the number of launchers deployed.
Some of Iran’s surface-to-surface missiles are estimated to have ranges of over 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles), capable of hitting its arch-foe Israel and the U.S. bases in the region.”
“Unions, the reliable Democratic supporters, split from president on ObamaCare”
“”Union leaders argue insurance costs for millions of workers will increase under the president’s health-care plan so they might have to drop their existing plan, despite Obama promising the opposite.
Union leaders are now hearkening back to what Obama repeatedly said starting in 2009: “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.”
Joe Hansen, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, wrote in a recent op-ed that that scenario “is not going to be true for millions of workers now” and the realization “makes an untruth out of what the president said.”
“Oregon teen planned to blow up his school in ‘Columbine-style’ attack, authorities say”
“”Acord was taken to a juvenile jail Thursday night after police received a tip that the youth was making a bomb to blow up West Albany High School, located about 75 miles south of Portland.
He said Acord had written plans, a checklist and a specific timeline for the attack. The bombs investigators found included pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, a Drano bomb and a napalm bomb, Haroldson said.
Police found no bombs during a search of the high school.
Haroldson declined to provide the specific date Acord allegedly planned to attack the school, but said it would be included in court paperwork to be filed after the Memorial Day weekend.”
